Marian Regional Medical Center Earns Esteemed Reaccreditation of CEO Cancer Gold Standard Award
Marian Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Marian was awarded the CEO Roundtable on Cancer's CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ Employer Award for 2017. This prestigious honor, awarded to the hospital seven years in a row, recognizes the hospital's efforts to reduce the risk of cancer for their employees and covered family members by promoting healthy lifestyle choices, encouraging early detection through cancer screenings and ensuring access to quality treatment. Additionally, the standards of this accreditation have been enhanced, placing more of an emphasis on prevention of cancer and recognizing the steps Marian takes to reduce the risk of cancer in employees.
The CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ Award calls for organizations to evaluate their health benefits and corporate culture and take extensive, concrete actions in five key areas of health and wellness to fight cancer in the workplace. To earn the Gold Standard accreditation, a company must establish programs to reduce cancer risk by discouraging tobacco use; encouraging physical activity; promoting healthy diet and nutrition; detecting cancer at its earliest stages; and providing access to quality care, including participation in clinical trials.
"Marian Regional Medical Center is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of employees and their dependents by offering comprehensive health benefit plans and implementing special programs intended to reduce employees' risks of developing cancer," states Kerin Mase, President and CEO of Marian Regional Medical Center. "Marian is proud to offer employees a continuum of exceptional health care screenings, treatments and services that are among the best in any industry sector and we are very proud to know that our employees receive the very best in cancer care at Mission Hope Cancer Center."
This reaccreditation is a testament to Marian's ongoing commitment to the health and well being of each of its employees and its exceptional standards of excellence. The collaboration of Mission Hope Cancer Center and Marian Regional Medical Center ensures access to quality cancer treatment and responds to the unique needs of employees who are cancer survivors or who are caring for a cancer survivor.

Women’s Choice Award
The Cancer Care Program at Mission Hope Cancer Center is pleased to announce that it has earned the prestigious Women’s Choice Award® for the 2015 America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care.
This distinction is based on research from publicly available data, along with patient recommendations and satisfaction scores from cancer hospitals that have been accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer. Hospitals were also recognized for having chemotherapy, radiation, and hospice services along with major research programs. Of the more than 1,300 cancer centers that were considered for this distinction, we are one of only 35 facilities in California that received this designation.
Mission Hope Cancer Center Named Screening Center of Excellence by Lung Cancer Alliance
Designated Screening Centers of Excellence are committed to provide clear information based on current evidence on who is a candidate for lung cancer screening, and comply with comprehensive standards based on best practices developed by professional bodies such as the American College of Radiology (ACR), the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP) for monitoring screening quality, radiation dose and diagnostic procedures within an experienced, multi-disciplinary clinical setting.
ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center Designation
Marian Regional Medical Center has been designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology (ACR), one of only nineteen facilities in the entire State of California. The ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center designation is a voluntary program that recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer. In order to receive this elite distinction, facilities must be accredited by the ACR in computed tomography in the chest module, as well as undergo a rigorous assessment of its lung cancer screening protocol and infrastructure. Also required are procedures in place for follow-up patient care, such as counseling and smoking cessation programs. Lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography scans, and appropriate follow-up care, significantly reduces lung cancer deaths.
Marian Breast Imaging Center Receives Prestigious Mammography Services Award for Excellence
This prestigious award is granted by the American College of Radiology to breast imaging facilities that provide the highest practice standards of the radiology profession for quality and safety in stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy and mammography services.
This is good news for our community. At Marian Breast Imaging, we hold ourselves to this higher standard with our on-site radiologist, nurse navigator support, peer review of all biopsy studies and dedicated breast cancer tumor board. You can have confidence knowing that your mammogram will be performed by one of our team of skilled technologists who specialize in breast imaging.
As you may know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so it is the perfect time to spread the word to all the women in your life about the importance of breast cancer screening. Marian Breast Imaging at Mission Hope Cancer Center is open extended hours (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) to accommodate most schedules. Please call 805.346.3490 for an appointment.
