An experienced Medical Oncologist, Dr. Robert Dichmann
has provided superior medical oncology services in the
Santa Maria community since 1996. He is the founder of Central
Coast Medical Oncology (CCMO), which is currently one of
the largest and most respected hematology/oncology groups in
the Northern Santa Barbara area, and is an affiliate of UCLA
Jonsson Cancer Center. He also serves as Medical Director of
Marian Cancer Care and chairs the weekly Tumor Board.
It was due to the vision of Dr. Dichmann for his patients’ needs that Mission Hope Cancer Center was built. He wanted to provide state-of-the-art, integrated oncology care under one roof to the people of the Central Coast to ease the burden of going through cancer treatment.
Dr. Dichmann earned a Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada. He completed Fellowships in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Oncology and Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplants from the University of San Diego Medical Center. Dr. Dichmann is board certified in Internal Medicine and Oncology.
Dr. April Kennedy is Board Certified in Medical
Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine.
She provides compassionate care for patients at Mission
Hope Cancer Center, and works collaboratively with all
departments to provide patients with all aspects of cancer
care under one roof.
As an affiliate of UCLA Jonsson Center, Dr. Kennedy is able to offer patients the most advanced treatment with enrollment in cutting edge clinical research studies. She has experience in the treatment and diagnosis of all cancers and provides her patients with individualized care for the best possible outcomes.
Dr. Kennedy received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of California Davis, and Hematology-Oncology fellowship program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
Dr. Kennedy joined Central Coast Medical Oncology and Dr. Dichmann in 2007. She is board certified in Hematology, Oncology and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Erickson received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Medical Doctorate from the University of Illinois. He has received multiple awards during his training including being named a James Scholar during medical school. He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Hawaii.
In 2004, Dr. Erickson began his practice as a hospital-based Internal Medicine physician at a large Denver medical center. He subsequently completed a combined fellowship in both Medical Oncology and Hematology at the University of Colorado. Since then, he has been a partner in a busy hematology and oncology practice at an award winning regional medical center in Michigan.
Dr. Erickson is a strong advocate for clinical research and serves as lead investigator for several clinical trials and is a principal investigator with the Southwest Oncology Group. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology. Areas of special interest to Dr. Erickson are malignant and benign hematology, breast and lung cancer as well as gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Erickson is an active member of the American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
When not working, Dr. Todd Erickson enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Erine Erickson (an internal medicine physician) and their three boys. He and his family are excited to join the community and welcome the move to Santa Maria.
Dr. Stephen Vara, the most recent addition to the expert staff at the Mission Hope Cancer Center, received his medical degree from the University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago and was fellowship trained at the University of Texas Southwestern.
Dr. Vara is Board Certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Vara looks forward to collaborating with his colleagues to provide the highest level of care and expertise to Central Coast residents utilizing the most advanced technology. His approach to health care coincides with the comprehensive, patient-centered care given at the Mission Hope Cancer Center.
Dr. Vara is pleased to practice in a specialized, comprehensive facility that encompasses the entire spectrum of cancer care and offer his patients a collaborative approach to treatment.
He brings valuable experience and education to the team of physicians and staff at the Mission Hope Cancer Center.
