Survivorship and Supportive Care
Meet Dr. Cheryl Decker
Dr. Cheryl Decker is delighted to join Mission Hope as the Director of Survivorship and Supportive Care, providing the only program on the central coast. In the last 15 years, the survival rate for cancer patients has sky-rocketed. We celebrate the advances in curative treatment for cancer patients, but we recognize that many of those patients have not regained a high quality of life. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy have cured their cancer but left behind symptoms that keep them from thriving. Dr. Decker brings compassionate care in managing the side effects and symptoms brought on by fighting cancer. She meets with patients on their cancer journey, to improve their quality of life during and after treatment. Genetic cancer risk screening, personalized survivorship care plans to reduce cancer recurrence and the exciting new iThrive wellness program are just some of the integrative services available for our Mission Hope patients.
Dr. Decker is a Board Certified Fellow in Emergency Medicine. She received her medical degree from Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency at the University of Washington and Madigan Army Medical Center. Weekends find her training or racing in local triathlons. She is an active church member and enjoys the rural life with her husband, dogs, cats and alpacas on their Santa Maria ranch.
