What is a cancer screening?
- Screening tests have been shown to reduce cancer deaths.
- Cancer screening is looking for cancer before a person has symptoms.
- Screening tests are medical tests performed when you are healthy, with no signs of illness Screening tests can help find cancer at an early stage, before symptoms appear. When abnormal tissue or cancer is found early, it may be easier to treat or cure. By the time symptoms appear, the cancer may have grown and spread. This can make cancer harder to treat or cure.
- Discuss your needed screening tests with your primary care physician at your next well care visit or with your medical oncologist to keep you healthy in survivorship.
